Checked on: 25.10.2026. On that day tnpsc.gov.in listed no addendum or corrigendum to this notification.
Who is this schedule for?
Full-time workers, students with classes and parents running a home: people who cannot study all day but can find an hour.
The Group 4 written exam is on Sunday 10.01.2027, 9.30 AM to 12.30 PM (Notification 11/2026, page 1, para 1.2). We planned backwards from that date: Monday 02.11.2026 to the exam is exactly 10 weeks.
Honestly, 10 weeks give you one pass through all 15 units, one revision and two timed official papers. That is a base, not mastery, but no unit will be new on exam day.
Keep the paper in mind: 200 questions, 300 marks, 3 hours. Part A, the Tamil Eligibility-cum-Scoring Test, has 100 questions for 150 marks. Part B General Studies (75 questions) and Part C Aptitude and Mental Ability (25) carry 150 marks together. Parts B and C are evaluated only if you score at least 60 of 150 in Part A (page 20, paras 6 and 6.1). So Tamil appears every week below.
How do I fit study into a working day?
On weekdays, 60 to 90 minutes is enough, split into three short slots.
| Slot | What to do | Minutes | Source |
|---|---|---|---|
| Weekday, morning | Study this week's new unit | 30 | Our suggestion |
| Weekday, commute or break | Revise yesterday's unit (notes, or lesson audio in the app) | 15-20 | Our suggestion |
| Weekday, night | 15-20 questions on today's unit (from school textbook exercises or official papers); log your mistakes | 20-30 | Our suggestion |
| Saturday or Sunday, long block | Aptitude and reasoning problems on paper | 60 | Our suggestion |
| Saturday or Sunday, second block | Mixed practice set, all three parts | 45-60 | Our suggestion |
Keep new units for quiet time; on the bus, only revise. Maths needs pen and paper. On weekdays, learn the method; keep the long problem sets for the weekend block.
Keep a mistake notebook. For every wrong answer, write the unit, the correct answer and one line on why. In weeks 7 and 8 it becomes your guide.

Step 1 (weeks 1-6): cover all 15 units once
Three units a week, about two days each. Every week mixes Parts A, B and C. Maths needs repetition, so Aptitude comes up three times and Reasoning twice. For what each unit contains, see the 15 units in plain language.
Step 2 (weeks 7-8): revise
Six units a week, roughly one a day. Work from your notes and mistake notebook, not the textbook. Take the units with the most mistakes first. The five remaining units go into the weekends (table 2), with one timed set of Part A questions each weekend. In weeks 7 and 8 the timed Part A set can take the place of the mixed set.
Step 3 (week 9): official papers
Write two full papers TNPSC actually set, for example the Group 4 exams held on 12.07.2025 and 09.06.2024. Give each 3 hours in one sitting, ideally starting at 9.30 AM on a free day.
Mark them with the final answer key and list mistakes by unit. Papers and keys are on TNPSC's answer keys page; our guide to the official papers, year by year shows where each year sits.
Step 4 (week 10): light revision and exam-day rules
- Start nothing new. Reread your mistake notebook.
- Read Annexure IV of the notification: the exam-hall and OMR rules. Two of them follow.
- If you do not know an answer, darken option [E] (page 68). The notification says that if no bubble is darkened for a question, 0.5 mark is deducted from the total (page 72). Practise this at home.
- Watch tnpsc.gov.in for the hall ticket notice.
- Sleep well. Exam: Sunday 10.01.2027, 9.30 AM.
What if I start late?
- Find this week's row in table 2 and start there.
- Fit missed units into weekends, one on Saturday and one on Sunday.
- Part A has its own minimum (60 of 150), so do missed Tamil units first.
- Never drop step 3. A full timed paper is the closest thing to exam day.
What about a day when work runs late?
Some days the office runs late and you are tired. That is normal. Do only the 20-minute short version:
- 5 minutes: redo 3 to 5 of yesterday's wrong answers.
- 8 minutes: read or listen to one small part of this week's unit.
- 5 minutes: answer a few questions on it.
- 2 minutes: note today's main mistake and tomorrow's unit.
Next day, carry on as usual; do not double up. One habit is enough: try not to miss two days in a row.
How do I check myself each week?
Half an hour on Sunday evening.
- Take an older official paper, for example the Group 4 exam held on 24.07.2022. Answer 20-25 of its questions from this week's units under time. Keep the 2025 and 2024 papers for week 9.
- The 2022 and 2024 papers came before the syllabus dated 12.12.2024 (syllabus, page 4), so a few questions may fall outside today's units.
- Mark them with the final answer key and note mistakes by unit.
- If one unit keeps producing mistakes, revise it first in step 2.
- Compare yourself only with your own previous week.
Practical steps
- Start a mistake notebook today.
- Download the syllabus PDF and keep it on your phone.
- Block three slots every day: morning, commute, night.
- Start at this week's row in table 2.
- If you have not applied yet, the last date is 05.11.2026, 11.59 PM (Notification 11/2026, page 1, para 1.2).

No app is needed for this schedule. If you want one, the TNPSC Guide app's 30-day program follows the same unit order; in its free 3-day period the plan's Day 1–3 lessons, the full question bank and one sectional test are open. After that, the free parts stay open.
Frequently asked questions
Are 10 weeks enough?
Ten weeks let you cover every unit once, revise each one once and write two official papers. That is a base, not complete preparation, and no schedule can promise a result.
How much time should I study each day?
Our suggestion is 60 to 90 minutes on weekdays, split into a morning, a commute and a night slot, with a little more time at the weekend for aptitude and a mixed practice set.
What if I miss a day?
Do the 20-minute short version the next day, then carry on as usual. Do not try to double up to catch up.
Can I study while commuting?
Yes. Use the bus or train for revision: read your notes, or listen to lesson audio in the app. Keep new units for a quiet slot at home.
What if I start after 02.11.2026?
Start at this week's row in the ten-week table, fit the units you missed into weekends, and keep week 9's official papers whatever happens.
